Along with Buena Puente, one of the other folks who I knew I HAD to ask to do a remix was my deep homie, Connor Bush, pka Aisle Knot π
I first met Connor back in 2017 in what honestly feels like such a long time ago. We were both working at the same company after freshly moving to Brooklyn, and bonded over our love/cringe of emo muzik and ASMR lol. After getting to know Connor, I realized that not only is he a deep homie, but also an incredibly talented songwriter, musician, and performer. His poignant music as Aisle Knot (fucking listen to Woke Up Feeling Strange rn (check my story!!)) and his music as 1/2 in Trundle, is so goddamn good and moves me tears, not to mention his role in the incredible Mordechai β‘οΈ
His remix of βSo Close, but Still So Far Awayβ is a deep ambient exploration. Likewise more reimagining than it is remix, Connor's remix deconstructs the elements of the track and reassembles it into something wholly new π The piano and guitar lines are removed from their original context and suspended, while ambient vocal samples fill the liminal space. Extra points to whomever can identify the vocal samples π All of this comes together to make to take the listener on a trip that is both unsettling and serene, allowing for one goddamn heck of a track π
Much much love to Connor π and a major thanks to him for making something so fucking cool with the track. Hope you all enjoy his remix as much as I do π
Until the next one!!
